Lindeman’s Bin 45 Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
I’ve always wondered about Australian wines. How many bottles do they have to produce to be able to ship around the world and make a profit at $5.99 a bottle. Or what corners do they have to cut? At Lindeman’s Bin 45 must be huge. But since they’ve been making wines since 1843 I guess they’ve had time to refine the process. Lately most Australian wines I’ve had have been under $10 and aren’t bad. This one is a very good cab at $5.99. It’s mouthfeel and flavors are different from most Cab’s I drink. This one is different but in a good way. Let me get this out of the way. Mrs. Dan liked it so that makes it a keeper.
This little $5.99 gem has strong fruit flavors but its dryness balances it out. On first try I would say it was dry at the finish, which is counter to what the label says (smooth finish). Dark garnet in color. Very dark berry flavor. The label says blackcurrant and mint flavors. I would agree with that mint assessment. That mint flavor pops up in after the strong fruit flavor fades. On second taste maybe that finish is rather smooth.
Not a bad little wine for $5.99. I would like to try this again but this time with some turkey burgers. I think they would work well together.
