Wine Away stain remover
Cost: $7.95
What: If you drink red wine with any regularity, you eventually will spill some of it on a pretty, white tablecloth, or light colored carpet. Then you will spend hours trying to remove the stain, getting madder every time you rub.
But if you have some Wine Away on hand, you don’t need to worry. You just spray on the Wine Away, let it stand a few minutes and then blot up the stain. If the stain is on a washable tablecloth or clothes, spray, let it stand several minutes, then use a laundry pre-wash and launder as usual.
It works like magic. Wine Away is made from fruit and vegetable extracts, has a fresh citrus scent, and does not contain bleach or phosphates.
I’m skeptical when it comes to miracle claims, but this really works. After a friend’s adult son couldn’t hold his red wine one evening, he sprayed the tan back seat of my wife’s new car. My friend felt bad and after I refused his offer to clean up the mess he gave me a bottle of Wine Away. I sprayed the areas that had deep purple-red markings on the upholstery and carpet. I let it soak, blotted it up and washed it with warm water. To my amazement you couldn’t tell that anything had spilled. And there was no bad smell.
If you have friends who get sloppy with their wine (and who doesn’t?) this is a great gift. And you can pick up one for yourself, too. All the local wine shops sell it.
