I admit it. I bought this wine because of the label and the name “Wrongo Dongo.” I could say more but I better drop it. (This is a Spanish wine and I know enough Spanish to order at Taco Bell. This could mean “Right Turn Clyde” as far as I know). Anyway, Ms. Angie dropped by to see Mrs. Dan and we decided to open a bottle. She selected the Wrongo Dongo. My first impression? I can smell alcohol as in rubbing alcohol. It is a very dry acidic wine, more dry than my taste goes for. Hey, I’m a Merlot drinker, but settle for a Cab because that’s all Mrs. Dan wants to drink. Ms. Angie likes it because it has an easy finish with no weird aftertaste.
The label recommends pairing it with “the heartiest of roasts, steaks and barbeque.” I got sent on a food run for Little Ben’s 3rd birthday and he wanted chicken nuggets so I “enjoyed” this wine with a Chick-fil-A” grilled chicken sandwich and some waffle fries. The ladies enjoyed it with chicken strips. This wine wasn’t bad, but wasn’t great, especially since it hit the very top of my price point. Two more cents and I would have passed. Mrs. Dan says it was not “wrongo” but “righto”. Go figure. Ms. Angie says in addition to her comment about the after-taste says she “can’t go wrongo with this strong robust flavor. Very robust.” Whatever. If I had this with some red meat spiced up or grilled to perfection I would appreciate it more. With a grilled chicken sandwich, eh.

    Dan:
You need to upgrade your chicken entrees. Maybe Stouffers. Or better still, learn to cook my special chicken casserole. You have plenty of time for such things, eh? I’ll send you the recipe. “Mom” will be so proud….

    Enjoyed the web site …
